Biggest Car Count of Season at Marysville Raceway This Past Saturday
MARYSVILLE, Calif…On July 26, 2025, Marysville Raceway hosted 70 race cars—the season’s highest turnout. Hobby Stocks had 19 entries, winged 360 sprints brought 18, Dwarfs had 17, and Crate Sprints featured 16 cars. The winners tonight included Jake Haulot, Dylan Shrum, Kyle Cheney, and Mike Hall. But the real winners were the fans in the stands who enjoyed a long night of action packed racing that the entire family loved under the bright lights of Marysville Raceway.
Two separate major crashes sidelined a lot of good race cars during the 25-lap winged sprint car. Opening lap saw Dryver Dothage get spun and then he was drilled by William Fielding. Others involved included Jayden Bunch and Carson Hall. Pole sitter Bryant Bell was also tagged going into turn one and stopped while the carnage took place behind him. Later in the event, Andy Forsberg was battling with Jake Haulot for the lead and ended up climbing over the right rear tire of John Sullivan. Forsberg flew end over end and into the turn three catch fence. He was uninjured but the car was destroyed. Billy Wallace also had a run in with Sullivan. As Wallace used the bottom line coming out of turn four, Sullivan was there and pulling into the infield. Both cars collided and each of their momentum carried them into the middle of the infield. Wallace kept his car running and drove back onto the track in the middle of the back stretch. Wallace never completed that lap and was penalized for it later in the race when a caution was needed. Up front it was all Haulot. He led the final few laps with ease. Chasing to the checkered flag was Nick Larsen and Dennis Scherer. Carson Hall finished fourth. Koa Crane rounded out the top five after a stout battle with Trey Walters.
Mike Hall did a masterful job in winning the 20-lap Crate Sprint main event. Hall survived pressure from Misty Castleberry and a late race, hard charging Derek Droivold. The two top drivers in the points finished next. Caleb Ingle finished fourth and Jacob Johnson was fifth. Johnson won the first heat race. Castleberry dominated the second and final heat race.
The Hobby Stocks put on another great show. Zach Lindgren had things in hand until he did not. Lapped traffic is always a focal point during short track racing. As Kyle Cheney closed in, the top two had a decision to make as to what racing line to take. Unfortunately for Lindgren, he was delayed behind a slower vehicle, which allowed Cheney to overtake him with ease. Cheney survived a one-lap dash to the finish after a late race caution. Kevin Thomas continues to be at the front of the field and finishes third. Toby Merrifield was fun to watch all night and finished fourth. He had a spirited battle with Jason Clayton, who finished fifth. Phil Shelby got the popular win in heat race one. Brian Horn picked up the win in heat two. Merrifield was the class of the field during heat three.
Dylan Shrum is as good as it gets when it comes to Dwarf Car racing at Marysville. His early race battle with Shawn Whitney was fun to watch. However, the contest concluded shortly when Whitney withdrew due to a car malfunction. This would move Mike Grenert into the runner-up spot. Grenert was never able to take the lead away from Shrum, but did have to hold off another Shrum, Cody Shrum. Dylan Shrum finished first and made that exciting trip back to victory lane. Following the top three were Steve Costello and Dan Geil. The 20-lap race another barn burner by the Dwarf Cars and the fans were thoroughly entertained. Grenert won the first heat. Whitney dominated heat race two.
