James Giossi

Cedar Lake Speedway Track Champion

After a rough 2 nights at Cedar Lake Speedway earlier in the month and an unlucky night at Red Cedar Speedway, team 11 turned things around this weekend. As most know, racing is definitely an up and down swing of emotions.

It was a tough outing at the USA Nationals for Giossi and crew. Although James was able to go 14th to 6th on night one, it would be a DNF for night 2 after damage in the heat race. The following weekend was the Mahder 55 at Red Cedar Speedway. It was shaping up to be a good night as Giossi destroyed the competition in his heat race. Starting up front with some heavy hitters, it was bound to be a good feature event. The green flew and James was sitting comfortably inside the top 10. After the mandatory fuel stop halfway through, the bottom of the track seemed to lock down. As Giossi was working around a lap car, the lap car tried to go into the infield, right in front of the 11. This caused Giossi, who was coming out of turn 4, to get into the back of the lap car and wreck his front end. The night would be over as the James had to pull off.

After a string of bad luck, team 11 was ready to turn it around this weekend at Mississippi Thunder Speedway and Cedar Lake Speedway.

Giossi finally started on the pole for his heat race Friday night at MTS and led them all the way to the checker. Even though James won, he would start 10th for the feature event. Working his way up, and throwing sliders, Giossi would bring home a solid 5th place finish. Using this momentum, team 11 was determined to run quick the next night at Cedar Lake.

It was a huge night for both team 11's on Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway. Pat Doar and James Giossi had a fierce battle brewing. In order for James to win the point championship, he would have to out duel the Double One Express. It was off to another good night as James started on the pole and would go on to win it. After being unlucky in most draws, Giossi would finally start 3rd in the feature of the final points night. The race was off and he knew he would have to put the red 11 behind him. James would eventually grab the lead and destroy the field in the feature. In the end it would be the white and orange 11 edging out the other, as Pat Doar came home 2nd.

James Giossi and team 11 are the Cedar Lake Speedway Late Model Point Champions! The season isn't over yet as they will head to Ogilvie Raceway this coming Saturday night. Thank you to Liquid Nitro Racing for the great picture!
